Your F-100 on a poster, patina or paint

F-100s tend to come with a family attached. The farm truck someone learned to drive in. Grandpa's truck, bought back from Grandma and brought back to life. A poster of a random F-100 is not that truck, so we make it from a photo of yours.

22 owners have ordered one so far, 21 in the US and one in Canada. Here are real examples, which years they bring, and how to photograph a pickup so the whole truck makes it onto the poster.

Which F-100s owners order

Every era from 1953 to 1979 has come through. The 1967 to 1972 trucks are the largest group, close to half. The 1953 to 1956 trucks, the 1961 to 1966 trucks and the 1973 to 1979 trucks split the rest about evenly.

Stock restorations, lowered street trucks, a lifted 4x4, flamed paint and honest patina all show up. Several have the family riding in the cab, and one has three yellow labs in the bed.

§ 03

Where owners put their F-100

Half of our F-100 owners wrote their own scene. A Texas windmill with cattle and barbed wire at sunset. Midwest gravel roads past a farmhouse. New England cornfields and rolling hills. An old gas station with the pump out front. Big Sur where the forest meets the coast. The winding north end of Wisconsin Highway 42. Vancouver Island.

From our list, the Blue Ridge Parkway is the favorite, then Route 66.

§ 04

How to photograph an F-100 for a poster

Get the whole truck. Stand at the front three-quarter, far enough back that the cab and the full bed fit with room to spare, and crouch to bumper height. Photos that cut off the tailgate are the most common reason a pickup comes out with the wrong bed.

Make sure the grille and the side trim are sharp. They are how a 1956 differs from a 1955 and how a Ranger differs from a Custom, and F-100 owners notice. On a flareside, a straight side shot helps with the rear fenders.

Tell us the year, the trim, the two-tone split if there is one, and whether the patina should stay. Leave the plate on and we can remove it.
