Gifts for motorcycle riders who already own the gear

Buying for a rider is hard for a simple reason: the things they use most are the things they are pickiest about. A helmet has to fit their head. A jacket has to match how they ride. Most riders have a brand they trust and a strong opinion about the rest.

So this list sticks to gifts you can get right without knowing their glove size or their stance on textile versus leather. One of them is ours, and we put it first because it is the one thing a rider cannot already have: a poster of their own bike.

§ 01

10 gifts a rider will actually use

  1. 01

A poster of their own motorcycle

    $59–$449

Riders photograph their bikes constantly, then the photos sit on a phone. Send us one of those photos and we turn it into a vintage travel poster of that exact bike on a road worth riding, from Tail of the Dragon to the Stelvio. You see a free preview before you pay, and you can add the rider in the saddle with the helmet on. It hangs in the garage, next to the bike it shows.

  2. 02

A track day or advanced riding course

    varies

Most riders say they want one and never book it. A course makes them faster and safer, and nobody forgets their first session on a real circuit. Check that the date works before you book.

  3. 03

    Heated gear

    varies

Heated grips, a heated vest or heated glove liners add weeks to the riding season. Liners and vests are more forgiving on sizing than outer gloves.

  4. 04

    A helmet communication system

    varies

For riders who ride in pairs or groups, or want navigation in their ear. Check that it fits their helmet model first.

  5. 05

    Custom-molded earplugs

    varies

Wind noise at highway speed is loud enough to damage hearing over years. Molded plugs are comfortable all day and most riders never buy them for themselves.

  6. 06

A proper bike cover or a battery tender

    varies

Both protect the bike between rides and through winter. A cover has to match where it is parked: indoor dust cover or outdoor weather cover.

  7. 07

A compact tire repair kit and pressure gauge

    varies

Small enough for under the seat, and the kind of thing that turns a stranded afternoon into a twenty-minute stop.

  8. 08

A trip on a named road

    varies

Book a weekend near a road they keep talking about: the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Pacific Coast Highway, the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap. The ride is the gift. A poster of the bike on that road makes it last.

  9. 09

A gift card to their shop

    varies

This is the honest way to buy a helmet, jacket or boots: let them try it on. Pick the dealer or gear shop they already use.

  10. 10

    Garage upgrades

    varies

A paddock stand, a wheel chock or better lighting over the bench. Practical, and they will think of you every time they do a chain.

§ 02

Why a poster of their own bike works as a gift

The riders who order from us say the same thing in different words: they own the gear, they do not own a picture of the bike. Our motorcycle orders range from a Kawasaki ZX-12R on the Stelvio to Harley tourers on Tail of the Dragon and adventure bikes on dirt passes. In every one, the bike is the customer's own.

It also solves the gift problem. You do not need to know anything about motorcycles. You need one photo of their bike, and you can take it while they are not looking. A side or three-quarter view in daylight works best. Then pick the road, see the free preview and only pay if it looks right.

Want them in the picture? Add a photo of the rider, and a pillion if they ride two-up. You choose helmet off, visor up or visor down.

§ 03

What not to buy without asking

Helmets, jackets, boots and gloves. Fit decides safety and comfort, and riders are loyal to brands that fit them. Exhaust and performance parts are another trap: they depend on the exact model year, and some change what is street legal where they live. If you want to give gear, give a gift card to the shop they already use.

Joke t-shirts and novelty signs are the other trap. Most riders already have a drawer of them.

§ 04

Timing a Christmas gift

Gift searches for riders spike in December. Our US delivery takes 4–7 business days after you approve the proof, so start the preview early in December or before. The preview needs no account and no card, and there is a gift message at checkout. The packing slip shows no prices.

Questions

What is a good gift for someone who rides motorcycles?

Something they would not buy for themselves and that does not depend on fit: a poster of their own bike, a track day or riding course, heated gear liners, custom-molded earplugs or a trip on a road they love. Leave helmets and jackets to a gift card.

What do you get a biker who has everything?

A picture of the bike itself. Riders own the gear, but very few own a print of their own motorcycle. Send us a photo of the bike and see a free preview before you pay.

How much does a custom motorcycle poster cost?

From $59 for a 12 × 16 in fine-art print, up to $449 for the largest canvas in a float frame. US shipping is free and the digital file is included.
