Gifts for Jeep owners, from the trail to the garage wall

Jeep owners are a tribe with its own rules. They wave at each other. They leave rubber ducks on each other's hoods. They spend more on lift kits and tires than on the vacation. That makes them easy to shop for in one way: they love the thing. And hard in another, because they already bought every part they wanted.

Here are nine gifts that work whether their Jeep is a 2020 Wrangler on 35s or a CJ-7 that spends more time in the garage than on the trail. The first one is ours: a poster of the exact Jeep they drive.

9 gifts for Jeep owners

  1. 01

A poster of their own Jeep

    $59–$449

Not a generic Wrangler silhouette. Their Jeep, with their lift, their bumper, their wheels and their color, on a road like Big Bend, Monument Valley or the Pacific Coast Highway. Send one photo and see a free preview before you pay. Jeep people mod everything, so check the details in the preview and tell us if the winch or the light bar is missing.

  2. 02

    Recovery gear

    varies

A quality recovery strap, soft shackles and traction boards. Every trail Jeep should carry them, and few owners have the full set.

  3. 03

Tire deflators and a portable air compressor

    varies

Airing down for the trail and back up for the drive home is a ritual. Good deflators and a compressor make it quick.

  4. 04

    An off-road driving course

    varies

A day with an instructor on a real trail teaches line choice, spotting and recovery. Useful for new owners and humbling for old ones.

  5. 05

    A trail weekend

    varies

Book a weekend near trails they have not run yet, or a spot at a Jeep event like Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. The trip is the gift.

  6. 06

    A bag of rubber ducks

    varies

For 'ducking' other Jeeps: leaving a duck on a fellow owner's vehicle. Cheap, silly and part of the culture.

  7. 07

    A sunshade or bikini top

    varies

Top-off season lasts longer with shade. Check the model and generation first, because fit differs between YJ, TJ, JK and JL.

  8. 08

Trail maps or a navigation app subscription

    varies

Offline trail maps are what keep a day out from turning into a night out.

  9. 09

A gift card to their 4x4 shop

    varies

For the lift, the tires or the bumper they keep pricing. Never guess at parts for someone else's build.

Real Jeeps our customers turned into posters

Jeeps of every era come through our studio: Wranglers from the TJ to the JL, CJ-5s and CJ-7s, Cherokees, Grand Wagoneers, a Comanche pickup and a 1953 Willys. These three were sent in by their owners. Plates are left out, so nothing here identifies anyone.

Getting a photo that shows the build

With a Jeep, the details are the point. Shoot from the front three-quarter so the grille, the bumper and the face of one wheel are all visible. Stand back far enough to get the tires and the top in the frame. If the Jeep is muddy, that is fine; tell us if you want it clean or trail-dirty in the poster.

If they changed something since the photo was taken, like new wheels, a new bumper or a different top, say so in your notes. A photo from before the build is the most common reason a detail needs fixing later. More tips are in our photo guide.

§ 04

What it costs and when it arrives

A 12 × 16 in fine-art print is $59, a 16 × 20 in is $74 and framed prints start at $119. Canvas runs $99–$249. US shipping is free and the digital file comes with every print. If they have two Jeeps, which is not unusual, every extra print in the same order is 20% off. Delivery takes 4–7 business days after you approve the proof.

How much is a custom Jeep poster?

From $59 for a 12 × 16 in fine-art print to $449 for a 28 × 40 in canvas in a float frame, with free US shipping.
