Vintage Poster
The painted travel poster, before 1965 — when posters were made by hand instead of photographed. In the tradition of the WPA national-park posters and the great European poster painters (A. M. Cassandre, Roger Broders, Geo Ham). Flat planes of color, a stylized landscape, and the place name in script along the bottom: Pacific Coast Highway, Route 66, Monument Valley, Blue Ridge Parkway, Tail of the Dragon, Bonneville, Watkins Glen, or the Côte d'Azur. The landscape and the place name belong together. A limited palette and a light print grain.
